It felt like this August flew by. I can’t believe it’s almost September already. Here’s 10 of my favorite photos from August 2024.

The first photo here was at the Majestic Theater in Dallas, my first time seeing Iron & Wine. 10/10. Both the band and the live projectionists were mind-blowing.

The highlight of the month was definitely flying up to Minneapolis with my Mom to spend a week visiting her family in Wisconsin.

I’ve only been up to Wisconsin twice in the past decade, and both times were for funerals, so it was nice to just hang out and create good memories with her family. And the memories were incredible.

Not only did we get a full week of unusually cool weather (seemed like it was between 50 and 70 degrees pretty much the whole time), but I discovered when we arrived that my Uncle Scott had a Indian Scout motorcycle in his garage, just waiting for a quick wash and someone to ride it.

You all know how much I love riding motorcycles, so this development felt like winning the jackpot of summer vacations.

After a few days riding the bike around Hudson, trying the local food and coffee, I rode down the Mississippi River to Prairie Du Chien. I stopped in Red Wing along the way to buy some Red Wing boots, and then again in Winona to see my internet friend Brett Terpstra.

My mom and I spent a few days in Prairie Du Chien, visiting her family members, and catching her brother’s band (Nice Guys & the Dirty Minds) play a show by the river, and then finished the night out at the coolest local bar, the Tavern.

I had the best time in Wisconsin getting a much needed break from the Texas summer heat. Can’t wait to go back and do some more exploring.

In the meantime, Kolton has been making excellent progress on finishing his new studio, so I’m looking forward to spending the fall working on new music with the boys. Couldn’t be more excited to have a new home for my Yamaha Maple Absolute Custom drum kit, and I think Kolton is going to enjoy them too.
